The National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned that it could further strengthen before landfall early on Thursday. According to forecasters, with maximum sustained winds at 195 kph (121 mph), Erick could produce up to 16 inches (40 centimeters) of rainfall across the Mexican states of Oaxaca and Guerrero.
