The Spin

Narrative A

Nigerian Christians, and Catholics in particular, continue to face outright genocidal persecution simply due to their faith. In 2025 alone, hundreds of peaceful parishioners, priests and missionaries have been slaughtered. While these faithful are bravely defiant and continue to worship, something must be done so they no longer have to live in fear.

Narrative B

Nigerian Christians have found cause for hope. While western states like the U.S. push for Nigeria's "Country of Particular Concern" status, signaling potential sanctions, Nigeria's Muslim President Tinubu has also worked hard to foster fairness, with local Christian groups praising his track record. Global and domestic policies are working to end this trend of persecution.
