While Trump's base, including the likes of Dan Bongino and Kash Patel, rightly demanded transparency in this case, the fact of the matter is that this investigation was thorough and happened to conclude that Epstein killed himself. Unfortunately, fringe corners of the American right still refuse to acknowledge this wasn't a secret cover-up, even when their own conspiracy-minded allies at the DOJ have told them it wasn't.
The American people were first told that Epstein killed himself because the guards fell asleep and the cameras malfunctioned, but now they're told the camera did work, except for one minute of missing footage. They were also told there was a client list, but now there isn't one. Republican leadership knows of allegations that Epstein ran a sex blackmail operation for Israel, but they seem unwilling to fully address the details, even in the face of public outcry.
When forming his cabinet, Trump acquiesced to the conspiratorial side of his base, and now those officials are causing a headache for the president and the nation. Conspiracy theory podcasters were never suited to run the justice department, but since they now are, they have no idea how to put out the dumpster fire they ignited.
