The Spin

Republican narrative

Democrats orchestrated a deliberate shutdown to sabotage Trump's booming economy and record-breaking stock market gains. The shutdown permanently damaged federal data systems, leaving the Fed blind during critical economic growth. This backfired as Trump's economy shows wages rising faster than prices, with real income up $1,200.

Democratic narrative

Trump is hiding terrible jobs data behind shutdown excuses after firing the labor statistics commissioner for reporting job losses. Private data shows 32,000 jobs lost in September and 11,000 weekly losses in October. The administration can't blame Biden forever for an economy that's actually failing under Trump's watch.
