The Spin

Pro-establishment narrative

The recent inquiry makes it clear that the British Army is taking decisive action against a small minority of rule-breakers. Most of the 7,666 soldiers abroad follow regulations, with commanders actively enforcing all rules, including this ban, through training and "Sharkwatch" patrols. The vast majority of residents in Kenya support the base's presence.

Opposition narrative

This report exposes the military's failure to protect vulnerable Kenyan women despite promises of zero tolerance. Soldiers continue exploiting local women with impunity while broader issues like abandoned children and the unsolved 2012 murder of Agnes Wanjiru remain unaddressed.
