The Spin

Left narrative

This is nothing more than political persecution designed to eliminate a popular leader from the electoral process. Economic elites and right-wing forces have weaponized Argentina's judicial system to silence progressive voices and prevent the people from choosing their representatives in a blatant example of lawfare against those who defend sovereignty and social justice.

teleSUR English

Right narrative

Fernández de Kirchner is the first significant figure to be imprisoned for theft. It certainly took 17 long years for justice to be served, but better late than never. Argentine courts have finally taken action to protect democratic institutions, demonstrating that even the most powerful politicians can be held accountable for their actions.
