As was the case for special effects, AI actors are simply the next technological phase in the film industry. This invention has a myriad of positive implications, like creating body doubles for real actors, allowing filmmakers to create younger versions of characters or bringing old actors back to life on the big screen. Every technological advancement receives backlash before the audience realizes how it makes the industry better.
This is much bigger than the advent of CGI, and film executives know this. Actors have already been duped into selling their image to advertising companies, resulting in firms using real stars' likenesses to promote everything from political platforms to health products. The cost-saving aspect of this is even more worrisome, as production companies could eventually stop hiring people in the first place.
