The Spin

Right narrative

This case exposes the broken asylum system that allows dangerous criminals to exploit Britain's borders. Khan illegally crossed the Channel with 17 prior convictions in Sweden, lied about his identity and age, then threatened to murder a British politician while livestreaming his criminal journey for social media fame. Despite all of this, early release will see this criminal free in 18 months.

Left narrative

This case actually shows that the justice system does work: Khan received an appropriate sentence for making credible death threats against an elected official. And the court properly recognized the seriousness of threatening violence against politicians, while authorities confirmed they will pursue deportation after his sentence.
