The Instituto Nacional de Aeronáutica Civil (INAC) is the civil aviation authority and air navigation services provider of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, created by Decree No. 1,446 on September 28, 2001, and formally established with its current name on December 12, 2005 as an autonomous state security institute. INAC is responsible for regulating Venezuelan commercial air transportation, air navigation facilities, issuing and revoking pilot certificates, developing air traffic control systems, ensuring operational safety compliance, and overseeing airport certification in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and the Chicago Convention. The organization plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of Venezuelan airspace and civil aviation operations.
