Let's recognize how dystopian and catastrophic the effect of plastics on the health of the planet and humanity could be. Plastic pollution is a proven culprit behind human fertility issues and more must be done to prevent a black swan cataclysm that could result from our plastic addiction.

Narrative B

We don't yet know if ingesting plastic particles poses a true public health risk. More research is needed to establish long-lasting impacts. Plastics play a crucial part in our daily lives from medical care to food preservation, and whether this is a threat or something we can live with remains to be seen.

Anti-Russia narrative

This invasion is an egregious violation of international law. Putin's ultimate aim is to restore the Soviet empire, even if it takes massive bloodshed and false pretexts such as calling the 2014 Ukrainian revolution after a fraudulent election a "coup". This unprovoked attack is the latest chapter in Putin's Orwellian attempt to re-write history.

Pro-Russia narrative

NATO and the US have ignored Russia's security concerns by breaking its promise not to expand eastward in return for German reunification. These concerns are legitimate and taking them seriously would have avoided the Ukraine tragedy.

Nerd narrative

There's a 5% chance that Kyiv will fall to Russian forces by June, according to the Metaculus prediction community.

Narrative A

Bukele is an effective populist leader who has been vocal in criticizing the country's complacent politicians - right and left - for their failures to care for victims of the country's civil war. This latest move further demonstrates his commitment to protecting Salvadorans and confronting criminals, two main goals of his administration.

Narrative B

Bukele's image as a law-and-order president is an illusion created by a secret alliance he entered into with gang leaders in order to keep the peace - a tactic many Salvadoran presidents have adopted. The recent outbreak in violence may hint that the gangs want to renegotiate this pact, and Bukele is seizing the opportunity for another power grab.

Pro-establishment narrative

This is but the latest in a string of terrorist attacks perpetrated by Houthi rebels, in clear violation of international law. Saudi Arabia and its allies have tried to negotiate peace, but all efforts have been rejected. The Houthis are a terrorist group that doesn't represent Yemen's legitimate government, and must be held accountable.

Establishment-critical narrative

There cannot be peace in Saudi Arabia or Yemen until the Saudis and Emiratis' brutal war and blockade is ended. The two nations are conducting war crimes in Yemen and the Houthis' resistance is just as legitimate as the resistance in Ukraine. The war in Yemen has caused untold suffering on the Yemeni people, but the media has consistently failed to extensively cover it.

Conservative narrative

This is a short-sighted class warfare aimed at soaking true innovators by forcing them to play by a different set of rules than everyone else, namely to pay taxes on money that they haven't even earned yet. Once the precedent is set - that unrealized capital gains can be taxed - it won't be long before the Democrats come after the assets of the middle class too.

Progressive narrative

Income taxes have become regressive. They effectively capture a percentage of the income of Americans who earn wages, but they aren't effective at taxing income made on capital investments, which is how the very wealthy keep getting wealthier. 64% of Americans support a wealth tax, and it's high time that we tried to distribute the burden of our tax system more fairly.
