Canadian computer scientist and "godfather" of AI Yoshua Bengio on Wednesday said concerns over AI safety are approaching a point comparable to the start of the Covid pandemic, when governments moved quickly once they judged public safety and democracy to be at risk. He said "we are, I think, nearing that point."
