Sonia Sotomayor

Sonia Sotomayor is an Associate Justice of the US Supreme Court. She became the first Hispanic individual and third woman to serve in this role after being appointed by then-Pres. Barack Obama in 2009. Appointed to the US District Court for the Southern District of New York in 1992, becoming the youngest judge on the court, she later joined the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in 1998.
