An Israeli strike in the Sabra locality of Gaza City on Tuesday reportedly killed Mohamed al-Wahidi, a Palestinian aid official who had organized World Cup screenings, along with two children and a taxi driver.

The Israeli military said al-Wahidi was not the intended target of the strike, stating it was aimed at a Hamas militant. It said it was checking whether the 33-year-old driver, Ahmed Daghmush, was the target.

Gaza death toll figures have serious credibility problems — demographers flagged biased sampling, overlapping survey areas and possible double-counted deaths in the Lancet research that inflated fatalities by tens of thousands. Removing just two anomalous survey teams drops the estimate dramatically.
