While times have certainly changed, and a far-right man like Jim Jordan can gain popularity within the online conservative media sphere, that doesn't mean he's fit for the job. What Jordan is good at is holding a conspiratorial House Oversite Committee hearing and pushing such theories to viewers on TV. However, the job of the speaker is still to bring the two parties together and actually pass legislation — and Jordan has no experience doing this.
It does seem that Jordan will obtain the necessary votes to become speaker, but that doesn't mean he's going to bring the party together. As shown by most Republicans not attending a meeting last week to discuss the vote, the Republican party is becoming increasingly fractured and is showing no signs of coming back together. The lawmakers who are celebrating this chaos have no desire to actually govern.
Jim Jordan has proven time and time again his commitment to fighting for actual conservative beliefs. He fought back against Joe Biden's additional 87K IRS agents, exposed the Justice Department's political weaponization, and helped pass the most successful border security legislation in American history. Jordan listens to and acts upon what the public truly wants, which is why he is the best candidate for the speakership.
