Suspects Arrested in Europe Over Alleged Anti-Jewish Terror Plot

German and Dutch authorities arrested four suspected Hamas operatives allegedly planning to carry out terror attacks on Jewish targets in Europe on Thursday.

According to Germany's federal prosecutor, of the three detained in Berlin, two are reportedly Lebanese nationals, while one is an Egyptian. The fourth suspect arrested in the Netherlands is identified as a Dutch national.

Prosecutors claim the suspects are "closely linked" to Hamas' military wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades. Hamas, which governs the Gaza Strip, is considered a terrorist organization by the EU.

In addition, they suspect the four men had been looking for an "underground weapons cache" in Europe to store hidden weapons to be "kept in a state of readiness" for possible use in an attack.

However, Hamas has denied that any of the arrested individuals belonged to its cadre, adding, "Publishing these allegations aims to influence the mass rallies that are supportive of Palestine in Europe.".

The arrests come after the European commissioner for home affairs warned that Europe faces a "huge risk of terrorist attacks" in the EU, with the war between Israel and Hamas increasing the risk of violence globally.
