Israel has mistreated Palestinian Americans for years by instituting additional barriers and restrictions to travel into Israel. This policy change is not a guarantee for Israel's entry into the VWP, but rather a test to ensure that Israel will implement and comply with these policies.
Israel is shifting its policies to better align with the requests of the US Government with the aim of being admitted to the VWP. As admission to the VWP would benefit both the US and Israel, the latter is committed to complying with the agreed-upon policy changes.
